Banks County Speedway Reunion
On Saturday, May 9th from 10 am to 4 pm the Banks County Speedway will host it's first annual reunion and car show. This will be the first time the dirt track speedway has been open to the public in almost 45 years. The speedway was in use from 1955 until 1970 and was considered by most to be the family entertainment place-to-go in Banks County during its time.
The Banks County Speedway was operated by the late Tommie Irvin, a Banks County native, an early member of NASCAR and a Georgia Racing Hall of Fame inductee. Relatives and friends have spent countless hours working to painstakingly restore the area.
While there will not be any racing, several drivers who drove the speedway track and vintage cars will be there. There will also be food and drinks available at the restored concession stand. Admission is free.
The speedway address is 325 Spring Road, Baldwin. It is located just off of Georgia 198 and is only about 9 miles north of Homer.
Please come out and show your support for these efforts. This will surely be an historic local event.
